On June 5, 2022 I’m walking in the inaugural Hazel McCallion Walk for Health. I’m excited to join the former Mayor of Mississauga as she helps raise funds, leads the walk and celebrates health care workers with Trillium Health Partners.
'Inhale courage, exhale fear' are the inspiring words inscribed on a beautiful gift given to me by a patient. I read these words coming into the hospital each day during the challenges and uncertainties we faced in the hospital during the COVID pandemic. I read these words and think of my patients and their families whose lives have been disrupted by cancer, but have faced this journey by inhaling courage and exhaling fear. I am inspired by the courage and bravery of my colleagues and most certainly by my patients.
I would like to celebrate you as you have inspired me. I am inviting a group of phenomenal women who have faced lung cancer to walk with me and celebrate your strength and journeys. Your friends and family can join as well. My goal is to bring us to together in a healthy activity as you know I always advocate for movement in recovery!
This is to celebrate you, and there is zero pressure to fundraise but if you consider donating, every dollar helps and you will automatically receive a tax receipt. Trillium Health Partners has recently received the largest donation in healthcare history to build the largest hospital in Canada. Funds raised from the Walk will go towards building our hospital – The Peter Gilgan Mississauga Hospital. We are truly on our way to creating a new kind of healthcare for a healthier community!
