LOCATION AND PARKING

Beginning and ending at Port Credit Memorial Park, the Hazel McCallion Walk for Health has something for everyone! Choose from the leisurely 2 km stroll that’s perfect for families with young children, or opt for the scenic 5 km route along the waterfront trail.

After you walk, celebrate with a barbeque lunch provided by Cardinal Meats, pizza provided by Pizza Pizza, inflatable bouncers, balloon animals, a colouring contest, live music and more!

Your fundraising dollars will go toward building Canada’s largest hospital, the future home of The Peter Gilgan Mississauga Hospital. When the hospital is built, it will give our community a new, best-in-class facility with over 950 beds, more surgical capacity and one of the largest emergency departments in Ontario to care for our growing community.

REGISTRATION AND FUNDRAISING GOALS

Register as an individual or participate with a group of family/friends in the Family Team Challenge or participate with a group of colleagues in our Corporate Team Challenge. If you’re an employee of Trillium Health Partners, register in the 1THP Staff Team Challenge and raise funds for your own department, another health care need such as capital equipment, or help build the future home of The Peter Gilgan Mississauga Hospital.

1If THP funds are not spent by the Hospital and disbursed by the Foundation within three years of event day, the funds will be allocated to the highest priority needs of the Hospital.

While registration is FREE, there are minimum fundraising requirements to allow you to participate in making this fundraising event a success.

Orlando Corporation has generously agreed to match all donations to this year's walk. Every time a friend sponsors you or donates, their gift will be worth 2X more, doubling the impact on health care in our community.

If you don’t meet the above fundraising requirements on or before event date, you won’t be able to participate. Please note, you can make a donation for yourself and receive a tax receipt and participate in the event.

THP staff team captains should sign up using their THP email but are welcome to add friends and family to their roster.

Registration for babies/toddlers in strollers is free and no fundraising requirements are necessary to include these young ones but perks reserved for fundraising participants won’t apply.

The Hazel McCallion Walk for Health is a 2 km and 5 km fundraising walk hosted by Trillium Health Partners Foundation (THPF) to celebrate the life of our beloved former mayor and Honorary Guardian of the Hospital. The event will honour Hazel McCallion’s incredible life and many accomplishments by raising money for Trillium Health Partners, the hospital she loved, to help build Canada’s largest hospital, the future home of The Peter Gilgan Mississauga Hospital. The event features a Family Fun Festival following the walk, where participants can celebrate with a BBQ lunch, activities and live entertainment.

The Hazel McCallion Walk for Health will take place on Sunday, June 4, 2023 at Port Credit Memorial Park, located at 20 Lakeshore Road East, Mississauga, Ontario. VIEW MAP

The event begins and ends at Port Credit Memorial Park - 20 Lakeshore Road East, Port Credit, Mississauga, Ontario.

Parking is very limited at the park so please plan ahead and consider taking transit.

Parking is extremely limited and fills up quickly. The closest parking options are at:

We encourage you to consider public transit or carpool if possible and there will be volunteers available to guide traffic.

Dogs are welcome to join as long as they are on a leash.

Of course! Volunteer support is appreciated. If you're interested in helping out at the Walk, please register by May 5, 2023.

Portable restrooms will be available at Port Credit Memorial Park. There will be a water station and restrooms at Hiawatha Park for 5 km walkers. Handwashing and hand sanitizing stations will be available at Port Credit Memorial Park.

  • Along the 2 km and 5 km walk route, there will be Volunteers and Route Marshals available to assist you
  • Portable restrooms will be available at Port Credit Memorial Park. There will also be restrooms at Hiawatha Park for 5 km walkers.
  • First aid will be available at Port Credit Memorial Park
  • Hand sanitizer will be readily available throughout Port Credit Memorial Park and at the turnaround point on the 5 km walk route
  • Water and snacks will be available at Port Credit Memorial Park and stations will be situated at the turnaround point on the 5 km walk route
  • All children 12 years of age and under should be accompanied by an adult
  • Children in strollers are free; however, as they are not registered participants, they will not receive a swag bag, T-shirt, festivities wristband or a participation ribbon
  • Dogs are welcome but must be on a leash at all times

Pledges and pledge forms (if not collected online), comfortable walking clothes, hats and footwear, sunscreen, water bottles (water stations will be available at Port Credit Memorial Park and on the 5 km walk route), a blanket to make yourself comfortable for the event festivities and entertainment.

Note: The Hazel McCallion Walk for Health is rain or shine, so please dress accordingly.

For safety reasons, no rollerblades, scooters, skateboards, bikes, unicycles or motorized vehicles are permitted on the walk routes. Baby strollers and runners are welcome.

If you are using our online registration, you can register your team or family all at once. If you are registering in person, due to the waiver, the registration needs to be filled out separately for each individual.

Team Registration closes at 12:00am on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 in order to accommodate ordering team T-shirts.

Individual Registration will close at 12:00am on Friday, June 2, 2023, unless sold out prior to the event. Please note, space for the Walk is limited!

Yes, offline donations can be added to online donations. Offline donations are to be submitted to Trillium Health Partners Foundation, 89 Queensway West, Suite 800, Mississauga, ON, L5B 2V2. Processing donations will take at least five business days. Tax receipts will be issued and delivered via Canada Post.

The Hazel McCallion Walk for Health is a charitable fundraising event in support of our community hospital, Trillium Health Partners. In order to help us reach our fundraising goals, we ask that all participants commit to raising a certain minimum. We have some great fundraising tips on our website that can help!

The total fundraising goal is collective for the entire team and not each individual.

Yes! We encourage our participants to fundraise as much as possible to win great fundraising prizes. Prizes will be awarded to the Top Team and Individual Fundraisers, and each Team Captain will be entered into a draw to win a fabulous prize! Prize winners will be contacted within 10 business days following the event.

The funds raised for the event will support the future home of The Peter Gilgan Mississauga Hospital but *THP staff can fundraise for their own department or another one of THP’s hospital sites, if they wish. Priority will go toward supporting equipment on the capital equipment list.

*If THP funds are not spent by the Hospital and disbursed by the Foundation within three years of event day, the funds will be allocated the area of greatest need.

When you pledge online, you will receive an instant electronic tax receipt. Official tax receipts will be issued for donations of $25 or more.

Because teams can be a mix of family and friends, we require all members to register in order to receive T-shirts, swag bags and access to the family fun festival. A reminder that your team’s fundraising goal is collective for the entire team and not each individual - so there’s no onus on the children to feel obligated to fundraise.
