Laugh Out Loud Funding Priority
This year, the virtual Laugh Out Loud Gala will support the redevelopment and expansion of our Mississauga Hospital. What was a small community hospital in 1958 has since grown into a major centre for regional programs like cardiac care, stroke and more, supporting the health of our citizens, especially now during the pandemic. Over that time hospital standards have evolved and the presence of COVID-19 in our community has made it abundantly clear – we must redevelop.
This building project is the largest community hospital campaign our region has ever seen, but it’s necessary to create a more complete, inclusive and efficient health care system for our rapidly growing community.
What’s more, THP will see more growth than any other hospital in Ontario. In fact, the population of our catchment area is set to increase by 45 per cent over the next 20 years. Major initiatives like this one are absolutely critical in shaping a healthier tomorrow.
To advance our standard of care, we require bold new infrastructure and state-of-the-art technology, guided by practical research. Each ticket sold will help support this redevelopment, creating a much larger emergency department, a new and bigger surgical platform and an expanded intensive care unit.
In the past, our Laugh Out Loud Galas have supported key programs including Mental Health, Surgical Robotics, Emergency Services, and Diagnostics Imaging, positively impacting the lives of hundreds of patients in our community.
